Educational requirements

Access to Swedish nuclear power plants requires a number of training courses, including basic training in Protection & Safety, Radiation Protection in Practice and Clean Systems.

Forsmark, OKG and Ringhals have jointly developed access training courses that are valid at all facilities. Depending on the work to be performed, additional training may be required.

It is important that you who are going to work at OKG are aware of the procedures that apply, and also plan for you and your staff to have valid documentation for access and valid training to be able to start your work on time.

Educational requirements

Access to Swedish nuclear power plants requires the following training

Safety and security training (all)

This is a web-based training course that is conducted in the Nuclear Power Plants training portal.

The training contains important information about the work environment, alarms and emergency preparedness, and physical protection, among other things, and must be completed by everyone who will have access to the area. The training consists of course modules, plant-specific information for each plant and a final test and takes about 90 minutes to complete. Available in Swedish and English.

This training must be completed well in advance of arrival at OKG. After completing the training, a certificate must be e-mailed to the Central Guard's reception and, together with a drug test, register check and pre-registration, is the basis for gaining access/pass cards.

If you need, but do not have access to, a certificate of training completed before October 6, 2020, please notify the Central Guard's reception.

NOTE!

A valid Protection and Security training is a prerequisite for entering through the security checks at OKG. Each access card is linked to the date when the employee last did the Safety and Security training, and in cases where the date is older than 3 years, or if registration of approved training is completely missing, the card will be blocked for access.

To minimize disruption, we ask you to check the validity of your Safety and Security training and, if necessary, to repeat the training in the training portal.

Radiation protection in practice (all with dosimeters)

A mandatory training for all personnel with access to controlled areas according to SSM FS 2008:26 6§ . This training provides the necessary competence to work safely and securely in controlled areas from a radiation protection perspective.

Radiation protection in practice - basic

The training is conducted at OKG, in the training building (UBH), no. 15 on the map. Booking by e-mail or telephone 076-115 40 55 or 076-115 43 71. Includes a full day. As the number of places on the course is limited to 10 participants per session, you must register your participation in advance.

The training is available in Swedish and English.

In cases where an interpreter is required for participants to be able to benefit from the training, you as a provider will arrange this, and notify you at the time of booking. Note that the training will follow the regular schedule in terms of time, even if an interpreter is present.

Radiation protection in practice - re-training

Includes the following two parts

  1. Teacher-led workshop (practical). Covers 2.5 hours. The training is conducted at OKG, in the training building (UBH), no. 15 on the map. Booking via e-mail or telephone 076-115 40 55 or 076-115 43 71. As the number of places on the teacher-led training is limited to 10 participants per session, you must register your participation in advance.
  2. a web-based training (theory). Conducted in the Nuclear Power Plants training portal. This must be done before the instructor-led training session.

Both of the above two parts are required for a passing grade.

The re-training is only available in Swedish. If there is a need for re-training in English, basic training must be completed.

Contact the training administration for more information.

Radiation protection technology (supervisor with dosimeter)

The training is compulsory for supervising contractors in order to obtain a work permit. It is common to the Swedish nuclear power plants, SKB and Studsvik and therefore applies to all these facilities.
